It’s 2023, and some people are only just realizing Chris Pine played a Marvel superhero

Is Pine's voice really this unmemorable?

As one of the most famous Chrises in Hollywood, Chris Pine has a laundry list of movie credits under his belt, as is widely known for playing characters such as James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot franchise and Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman and its sequel. What many don’t seem to know, however, is that DC is not the only superhero franchise the actor has worked on.

Early today, a tweet about the actors that have voiced prominent versions of Spider-Man had an unintended consequence, as some folks deviated from the topic at hand to focus on something else. Apparently, despite the fact that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been out since 2018, people have remained unaware of Chris Pine playing one of the most well-known versions of the superhero, the Ultimate Peter Parker.

For those who still don’t know exactly where Pine fits into the film, he voiced the Spider-Man from Miles Morales’ dimension, who was killed by Wilson Fisk before the protagonist’s very eyes. In all fairness, Pine’s role in the movie was short and wasn’t announced at all, instead being revealed only after a press screening took place, and for some reason, that was enough for the information to slip right past the audience.

In case readers don’t know, Into the Spider-Verse wasn’t even Pine’s first voice-acting gig, and it certainly won’t be the last, as the actor is set to play King Magnifico in an upcoming Disney movie, Wish. If the sun continues to shine on him, who knows what else Pine could get up to next?
