Deadline is reporting that Javier Bardem, Jeremy Rennner and Brad Pitt are all circling the role of the main villain in Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor.

It was announced only the other day that Scott will reunite with his Prometheus star Michael Fassbender for the film, which comes to us from Pulitzer Prize winning writer Cormac McCarthy.

The Playlist is reporting the same story as well but unlike Deadline, they say that the role in question is not that of the villain. Rather, it’s the role of Reiner, “a criminal who along with his girlfriend Malkina, feature in another strand of the story.”

With a start date of May 1st and two crucial female leads still left to fill, we should have final confirmation on casting soon. Stay tuned.

The Counselor stars Michael Fassbender and is eyeing a 2013 release.
