Jeffrey Dean Morgan Wants To Play This Alternate Reality Version Of Batman

Watchmen and The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan made a blink and you'll miss it appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as Thomas Wayne. While the movie didn't really need yet another version of the Dark Knight's origin story, director Zack Snyder provided a memorable spin on it, and it was nice to see a familiar face in the rather thankless role.

Watchmen and The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan made a blink and you’ll miss it appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as Thomas Wayne. While the movie didn’t really need yet another version of The Dark Knight’s origin story, director Zack Snyder provided a memorable spin on it, and it was nice to see a familiar face in the rather thankless role.

Now, it’s been revealed that Morgan is keen on reprising the part, albeit in a very different way. Talking to fans during a convention appearance this past weekend, the actor revealed that he’d like to suit up as the Batman from the Flashpoint Universe.

“Man, I would love to play that Batman… It would be very cool. Flashpoint would be very cool.”

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, it featured Barry Allen travelling back in time to save his mother’s life and dramatically changing the timeline in the process. In that world, it was Bruce who was gunned down on that fateful night, with Thomas becoming Batman while his wife Martha ended up going insane and becoming The Joker.

That’s something which would no doubt be a lot of fun to see on the big screen, though it ultimately seems unlikely. There’s no denying that Morgan would be pretty much perfect for that version of the Caped Crusader, but Warner Bros. is currently busy trying to get the DC Films Universe back on track, and that needs to be the priority before delving into alternate realities.

Still, with Morgan adding that he’s been nagging Snyder for a larger role in this world, who knows what his future in the Batman franchise will end up looking like.
