Everyone wants it, but only one can have it. I’m talking about the highly coveted lead role in The Bourne Legacy. It’s one of the hottest casting tickets in Hollywood right now and everyone is after it. Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Kellan Lutz, Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer and Benjamin Walker are all names that been thrown into the mix but now it seems as if one name, that no one expected, has prevailed. And that is Mr. Jeremy Renner, star of notable films like The Town and The Hurt Locker. Both of which he gave tremendous performances in.
Latino Review tells us that the actor will receive an offer for the role very shortly. And to be honest, I wouldn’t doubt it. Renner is a two time Oscar nominee who is only getting bigger and will undoubtedly be more well recognized after Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters. The site mentions that originally Oscar Issac was a top contender but the studio shot him down for reasons unknown.
If the role indeed does go to Renner, I’d have no problem with it. He’s shown us that he can be an action star, a fact that will be re-enforced in the upcoming Mission Impossible film and I think he can lead the upcoming Bourne film just fine. To be honest, I was rooting for Gyllenhaal or Fassbender but I’m not upset with Renner.
What do you think?
