Joss Whedon finally breaks his silence on ‘Justice League’ allegations

Joss Whedon has finally opened up on the allegations surrounding his behavior on the set of the Justice League reshoots.

Any scandal that unfolds either in the public eye or on social media, oftentimes both, has seen the online community operate under the parameters that somebody is guilty until proven innocent, with various cancellation attempts launched at a huge number of recognizable names over the last couple of years.

Prime among them is Joss Whedon, who was already persona non grata among the DCEU fanbase after butchering Zack Snyder’s work on Justice League beyond recognition, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Ray Fisher has been vocal in accusing the filmmaker of wide-ranging misconduct on set, while Gal Gadot revealed that he’d even threatened to derail her career.

We haven’t heard a peep out of Whedon in a public forum since the revelations began rolling out, but he’s finally broken his silence in an interview with New York Magazine, where he opened up with both barrels. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator said he’d “never worked with a ruder group of people” than the Justice League ensemble, and responded to Fisher by saying the Cyborg star was “a bad actor in both senses”.

Twitter is already bubbling furiously at Whedon’s retort, which ended with him saying that “the beginning of the internet raised me up, and the modern internet pulled me down. The perfect symmetry is not lost on me”. We’ll be very interested in what Fisher has to say because you can virtually guarantee that he’ll be addressing the situation sooner rather than later.
