With shooting penciled in to begin in January of next year and a February 2025 release date locked in – unless of course it ends up being delayed again – we’re edging closer and closer to Kevin Feige finally revealing the official cast list for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Fantastic Four reboot.
As the fifth feature-length outing for the iconic superheroes boasting the fourth different lineup, you could state the case for the project not really needing to exist in the first place given that the title characters have already been done to death, but on the other side of the coin it won’t be too difficult for director Matt Shakman to make the best F4 blockbuster we’ve ever seen based on the quality of what’s come before.
One of the most nauseating aspects of the in-development comic book caper is the constant churn of casting speculation, with new names being tossed into the mix on what feels like a daily basis. However, some social media users seem to have latched onto the latest slab of scuttlebutt as a confirmation, but it’s immediately devolved into online chaos for a number of reasons.
It’s literally a tweet offering that Adam Driver’s Reed Richards, Margot Robbie’s Sue Storm, Paul Mescal’s Johnny Storm, and Daveed Diggs’ Ben Grimm will act as the central quartet with no hint of it being anywhere close to the real deal, but the knives were already sharpened a long time ago, and they’re not getting any blunter.
San Diego Comic-Con sticks out as the obvious place for Fantastic Four to unveil its core four for the world to see, and based on how exhausting the rumor mill has become, it can’t happen soon enough.
