New Justice League Blu-Ray Promo Is All About Batman

Justice League arrived five months ago now but the drama that went on behind the scenes continues to be debated by fans. Infamously, Zack Snyder was removed from the production after, as has been recently claimed, his cut of the movie was deemed “unwatchable.” In his place, Warner Bros. drafted in Joss Whedon, who had helmed The Avengers for Marvel.

It’s clear from the theatrical cut that Whedon changed a fair amount, too, but now that Justice League is available for consumption in digital format, the folks over at WB are hoping to put all those troubles behind them and are expectedly doing all they can to promote the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release, which is set to go down in exactly one week from now.

And just so you don’t forget it, the studio has dropped a cool new promo image today focusing on none other than Batman. It’s not much more than a shot of the Caped Crusader looking badass with some text telling us that Justice League will be available to take home on the 13th, but if nothing else, it’s another reminder of how great Ben Affleck is in the role and should get fans hyped for next week.

You can check it out in the gallery down below, along with some recently released character posters (in case you missed them):

While it’s obviously nice to see the Dark Knight taking the spotlight here, it’s a bit surprising that the studio isn’t using this chance to feature Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel a bit more. After all, it’s been reported that Warner’s decision to omit Superman from their Justice League marketing was a costly one, and part of the reason why Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s superpowered ensemble piece failed to break $100 million in its opening weekend.

That’s a sorry debut for what is undoubtedly DC’s A-team, and one need only look to Black Panther‘s performance for evidence of Marvel’s ability to launch its mid-tier characters into the mainstream with such care and craft. Still, like we said above, it’s time to put all that behind us now and for the moment, fans can look forward to seeing the Justice League touch down on Blu-ray and DVD on March 13th (pre-order here), exactly one month after its premiere on Digital HD.
