Has Green Lantern’s Justice League Suit Been Hiding In Plain Sight?

Evidence continues to mount that Green Lantern will enjoy a cameo role in Justice League, and this latest theory only adds fuel to the fire.

Justice League is a hulking beast of a film with many moving parts, that much we know. But beyond the inevitable resurrection of Superman, there’s another DC icon who has been tipped for a cameo role.

We are, of course, referring to Green Lantern, the galactic superhero who safeguards the universe and everyone in it. Rumors of Hal Jordan enjoying a small appearance in Zack Snyder’s ensemble movie have been circulating for months – years, even – but things really escalated back in July, when Justice League‘s SDCC trailer ended with a shot of Alfred (Jeremy Irons) coming into contact with an offscreen ally. “He said you’d come; let’s just hope you’re not too late.”

It’s a scene that has been picked apart ad nauseam, with some fans claiming that a strange, greenish glow can be spotted in Alfred’s glasses. Alas, the jury’s still out on that one, but Reddit user ‘cryptic_nightowl’ (via ComicBook.com) has gone back further still to uncover a set photo of Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Zack Snyder. What seems to be a fairly unremarkable shot may be hiding a major spoiler in plain sight, as the black suit over Snyder’s right shoulder is purportedly an understated costume for Green Lantern.

Now, before you turn your nose up at what is admittedly a baseless rumor, the Reddit thread points to an exhaustive description from one of Justice League‘s junior compositors, who supposedly worked on the film’s VFX. Not only that, but the overall design also matches some of Green Lantern’s earlier comic book runs, and would suggest Warner Bros. is planning to incorporate a mix of practical effects and CGI to render Hal Jordan’s super-suit.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, there’s a very, very good chance that this suit is simply an early model of Batman’s tactical armor, so take from that what you will.

One way or another, all will be revealed once Justice League debuts on November 17th.
