The following quote, taken from an interview with Fandango, suggested that Nebula would find a loyal partner in the fight against Thanos – a plot point that doesn’t especially come across in the latest Avengers flick.

“I know who her new BFF is, and I can’t tell you. I can’t. But I promise you it’s brilliant and unexpected and just so good.”

It’s a line that was picked up on by a user on Reddit, who’s suggesting that Gillan was getting her Marvel movies mixed up, and that we’ll actually be seeing Nebula’s pair-up in Avengers 4. Redditor TheLazerShell goes on to speculate on who exactly the Guardians of the Galaxy regular’s new best bud could be, eventually narrowing the options down to two surviving Avengers.

“Iron Man – Possibly, they probably shared some time together by the time they returned from Titan, also LEAKS SPOILERS – from the leaked set photos we know that Nebula is gonna be on Earth at some point, my guess is she never even left Earth. She was the reason why Thanos started his Quest for the stones, she’d probably want redemption.”

“Black widow – Another possibility, they were both raised and taught to be killers but both ended up deviating from that.”

While these both seem like pretty solid guesses, Tony Stark would probably have the edge in most viewers’ predictions, seeing how the last movie ended with the two of them alone together on Titan. Having watched their friends and comrades turn to dust before their eyes, you can imagine that the stage is set for some emotional bonding as they figure out where to go from here.

Still, going back to Gillan’s original quote, Nebula’s BFF is said to be unexpected, making it hard to rule out anyone expect maybe the too-obvious Guardians. But whoever ends up being the Rocket to Nebula’s Thor, here’s hoping for plenty more high-chemistry team-ups when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
