Karen Gillan feels like Nebula and Gamora’s roles have reversed in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Karen Gillan shares insight on what to expect between Gamora and Nebula.

Marvel star,Karen Gillan has been very vocal lately about her role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, considering the amount of character development Nebula had throughout her onscreen career. Recently, the actress shared how she’d changed in the third installment, leading viewers to expect some sort of role reversal with her sister, Gamora.

In an interview with ComicBook, Gillan thinks that Nebula and Gamora switch places in the upcoming film. She also admits that this type of character dynamic between the two sisters is something she and Zoe Saldana played around with during shooting, and looks forward to what fans think once it officially releases.

“It’s kind of like we switched places in a weird way because Nebula is the more evolved, compassionate one out of the two of them. I actually love this version of Gamora. She’s so badass, doesn’t take any prisoners and is aggressive and fun. We just played around with that dynamic and developed a fun way of greeting each other, which you’ll see when you see the film.”

The role reversal that Gillan mentioned was somewhat teased during the second trailer for Guardians in the Galaxy Vol. 3. In it, Gamora called out Peter Quill (played by Chris Pratt) and claimed that the person he loved sounded more like Nebula.

Gamora died during the events of Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos sacrificed his adopted daughter to obtain the soul stone. She then returned during the events of Avengers: Endgame, but this version of this Guardians hero was someone before she knew and bonded with the other heroes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is said to be the final installment of the franchise. Aside from this story of sisterhood, director James Gunn revealed that the film will be based on Rocket Racoon’s backstory, and that it will be very emotional. If you’re keen to watch this Marvel swansong, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5.
