As you can see below, it spotlights Kate Beckinsale as Death Dealer supreme Selene doing what she does best: Firing two pistols and looking really cool in the process. Not only does it retain a hint of the blue tint the film franchise has become known for, but it also isn’t afraid to showcase her new look, which includes some new hair coloring – hinting at a fundamental change she endures in the latest installment that may turn the tide of the centuries old war in her favor.

If this and the freshly released trailer are any indication, Blood Wars may very well turn out to be among the best films in the popular action-horror series. And, despite no crossover with Blade being in the cards, Underworld devotees certainly don’t have much to complain about.

For more information, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Underworld: Blood Wars arrives in theaters on January 6, 2017.
