Filtering out much of the expletives, the snippet retains the same running order as the original trailer, reminding us all that Peter Atencio’s comedy feature is shaping up to be one of the earlier surprises of the year. Reuniting beloved duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, Keanu finds the latter’s character Rell down the dumps and coming to terms with an emotional breakup.

But what better way to bounce back from a disheartening event than adopting a cute and seemingly stray kitten? That’s exactly what Rell does when he crosses paths with the titular feline, only for it to be cruelly kidnapped a few days later. Cue the wonderfully over-the-top chase sequences and shootouts as Key and Peele set about retrieving their “gangster pet.”

Also starring Tiffany Haddish, Method Man, Jason Mitchell, Luis Guzman, Nia Long, and Will Forte,Ā Keanu is set to leap into theaters on April 29.Ā The official poster, on the other hand, ought to give you a sense of the tone Atencio and Co. are gunning for.

Keanu-1

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, a.k.a. the hugely popular comedy duo Key & Peele, star as Clarence and Rell, two cousins who live in the city but are far from streetwise. When Rellā€™s beloved kitten, Keanu, is catnapped, the hopelessly straight-laced pair must impersonate ruthless killers in order to infiltrate a street gang and retrieve the purloined feline. But the incredibly adorable kitten becomes so coveted that the fight over his custody creates a gang war, forcing our two unwitting heroes to take the law into their own hands.
