Cast out of his former sanctuary, Keanu Reeves’ famed assassin will have to fend for himself in a world that’s very much out to get him in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and with a newly shared poster for the upcoming trilogy-closer, we get a fitting representation of John’s lonely situation.
The image shared by the official John Wick Twitter account shows our hero staring through the glass door of The Continental in New York while the rain pours over him. On the backwards lettering of the door, we see the name of the establishment above the damning word “excommunicado.”
But the goodies don’t stop there, as Lionsgate has also shared a motion poster version of the same shot, which shows Reeves turning towards the camera with a determined stare, before the sound of a single gunshot is heard. Both pieces of promo material arrive ahead of the film’s first trailer – which is expected to land this week – and can be seen below.
After John Wick: Chapter 2 ended with pretty much the entire international assassin community after him, John is in serious need of friends in this third and potentially final installment. Going by the various photos released last month, the killer could well be turning to Anjelica Huston’s character The Director for help, though it also looks like he might find an ally in another assassin named Sofia, played by Halle Berry.
Of course, you can expect a few more returning players in the mix as well, including Ian McShane as The Continental’s manager Winston, Lance Reddick as his concierge Charon and Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King. Though plot details for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum remain a little vague, director Chad Stahelski has already admitted that both he and Reeves like to see the title character suffer, meaning that we can expect some fresh misery to come our hero’s way when the film hits theaters on May 17th, 2019.
