Keanu Reeves Is On The Run In John Wick: Chapter 3 BTS Image

With superhero movies dominating the box office these days, other genres have had to go the extra mile to turn heads as of late. When it comes to that of action, simply having cops and robbers shooting it out in scenes that are barely choreographed tends to not sell as many tickets as it could've in years prior, especially now that you have guys like Iron Man and Black Panther dialing it up to 11.

That said, John Wick: Chapter 3 is one movie firmly on my radar because its predecessors had so much going for them. I mean, how could you not love all the gun-katas and original songs such as Chapter 2‘s “Plastic Heart,” which I believe to be the best James Bond theme that wasn’t a James Bond theme, if that makes sense? Plus, the cinematography was off the charts, especially in scenes such as the climactic battle in the “Reflections of the Soul” exhibit.

So, given that filming for the third installment in the series is underway – which we’re being led to believe is the final one – it appears as though now is the time for behind-the-scenes images to make their way online. In fact, cinematographer Dan Laustsen had the following nugget to share on Instagram, showing Keanu Reeves back in the habit.

As of now, not too much is known about the plot, but this synopsis provides some hints as to where we’re going:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Beyond that, I surmise John may very well form some interesting alliances in order to stay alive. As you may remember, he has a fresh marker in his possession. Given said knowledge, who knows, maybe even Common’s character of Cassian could end up fighting alongside the titular character?

John Wick: Chapter 3 opens in theaters on May 17, 2019.
