Though Captain Marvel 2 has yet to be officially announced, the first film’s triumphant opening weekend should make a convincing enough case for Marvel Studios to push forward with sequel plans. And in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, producer Kevin Feige offered a few hints about Carol Danvers’ next solo adventure.

The Marvel Studios head has suggested previously that Captain Marvel may have more stories to tell between the events of her solo debut and her arrival twenty-plus years later at the Avengers Compound. And when ET posed the question of whether Carol has really managed to end the Kree-Skrull War, Feige offered a reminder that the character’s immediate future is still more or less a blank canvas:

“Well, we don’t know what she did, right? She said she was going to and she went flying off at the end, and then we jump many years into the future. What happened in that intervening time, I think, is something that would be a lot of fun to explore at some point.”

Naturally, Feige isn’t offering any definitive answers at this point, but Captain Marvel certainly left a few threads unresolved that a second period film could explore. Ronan the Accuser, for instance, seemed to take an interest in Carol’s newfound abilities, while the Supreme Intelligence and Yon-Rogg are unlikely to take their defeat lying down.

Then, of course, you have the Skrulls, who proved that appearances can be deceptive in more ways than the obvious. Though Captain Marvel didn’t exactly deliver the Secret Invasion storyline that some fans were hoping for, there’s already been talk that this popular comic book plot might’ve been saved for the sequel.

We can expect Marvel Studios to keep their Captain Marvel 2 plans under wraps for at least the next couple of months, but in the meantime, Carol will be getting to know her fellow superheroes when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
