Kevin Smith Posts His Verdict Of The Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

Filmmaker and all-around comic book expert Kevin Smith (The Flash) has offered up his verdict of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer.

Kevin Smith is known and loved for his enthusiastic, heart-on-sleeve coverage of comic book movies, and sure enough, it seems the Avengers: Infinity War teaser trailer left him “bawling with joy.” And can you really blame him?

First spotted by the folks at ComicBook.com, Smith took to Twitter early this morning to post his knee-jerk reaction to what is surely Marvel’s biggest reveal yet. The timing of the studio’s media dump is rather fitting, too, given the MCU is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

That’s right, in the space of a single decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ballooned into one of the most lucrative brands in entertainment – second only to Disney’s rejuvenated Star Wars series – and with upwards of 20 movies scheduled beyond 2018, the MCU will only continue to grow and evolve as time wears on.

But before we fall down the rabbit hole, the MCU’s next phase begins with a full-blown Infinity War, and Kevin Smith is certainly looking forward to “that clusterfuck of heroes.”

And if you’re worried that Infinity War‘s actual story will be smothered by all its many heroes come 2018, Joe and Anthony Russo’s handling of Civil War and its own massive ensemble leaves us feeling overly confident that Marvel will be able to deliver on those sky-high expectations.

Smith, on the other hand, has been incredibly vocal about all comic book movies, regardless of whether they hail from Marvel or DC. In fact, he was one of the few who came out to defend Justice League earlier this month, saying:

I saw Justice League twice already. I liked it. I liked it. There’s stuff in it that I really dug, stuff that I was happy, I mean it’s weird this is like, I’m not going to review the movie and stuff, but there are moments that f***ing made my heart soar.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Infinity War opens big on May 4th, 2018, before the fight against Thanos runs into overtime (see: Avengers 4) the following year.
