It’s no secret that filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith is a huge fan of the Marvel franchise, having named Avengers: Infinity War his favorite film of 2018 and recently claimed to have watched the movie 53 times. It’s no secret that filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith is a huge fan of the Marvel franchise, having named Avengers: Infinity War his favorite film of 2018 and recently claimed to have watched the movie 53 times. And so, like many an MCU enthusiast, Smith has high hopes for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, and when the new TV spot dropped over the weekend, the Clerks helmsman was online to share his thoughts.

Though the preview was only 30 seconds long, we still got a fair few interesting visuals from the video, as well as one ominous line from Captain America: “Some people move on, but not us. Not us.” Responding to these words, Smith took to Twitter to declare that he felt the same way:

“I haven’t moved on either. Please use that shield to smash Thanos in his chin-nuts and then bring ‘em all back from the Snap, Cap! And don’t worry: @captainmarvel is on her way…”

It’s significant that Smith mentions Steve Rogers’ shield here, in that the new TV spot confirms that Cap will be using his classic shield for the first time since the prop was given to Tony Stark in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

As for Captain Marvel, the solo debut of Carol Danvers is set to come out in just over a month, and after the distress signal sent by Nick Fury in the post-credits of Infinity War, it’s generally expected that the heroine will play a key role in the sequel. That being said, we’ve yet to see Captain Marvel in any official promotion for Endgame, though there’s already been some speculation that the character may have been edited out of certain shots in the latest preview.

Regardless, we’ll find out how the team fares in the fight against Thanos when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
