Kevin Spacey Is Transformed Into A Cat And Given Nine Lives In Bonkers New Trailer

Kevin Spacey has played workaholic businessman - nay, workaholic presidents - before remarkably well, but not quite like this. In the debut trailer for Barry Sonnenfeld's (Men in Black) Nine Lives, the House of Cards stalwart is transformed into a furry feline by the inimitable Christopher Walken.

Kevin Spacey has played a workaholic businessman – nay, a workaholic president – before remarkably well, but not quite like this. In the debut trailer for Barry Sonnenfeld’s (Men in Black) Nine Lives, the House of Cards stalwart is transformed into a furry feline by the inimitable Christopher Walken.

In what is fast becoming the month for hilarious cat-centric trailers following Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s Keanu, Sonnenfeld’s feature plays up the family angle, placing Spacey in the shoes of power-hungry Tom Brand, who neglects his nearest and dearest all in the pursuit of growing his prized company, FireBrand.

But when familial ties are hanging by a thread, Walken throws up a curveball by turning Brand into a cat, and the results are about as crazy as you’d expect. Granted, many of the jokes included in today’s teasers are fairly pedestrian, and it’s really the inclusion of Spacey, Walken and even Sonnenfeld that has piqued our interest in Nine Lives.

Joining Kevin Spacey’s for his journey to becoming Mr. Fuzzypants – and vice versa – are Robbie Amell along with Jennifer Garner and Malina Weissman as doting wife Lara and daughter Rebecca, respectively. Can Nine Lives prove to be more than the sum of its furry parts?

Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) is a daredevil billionaire at the top of his game. His eponymous company FireBrand is nearing completion on its greatest achievement to date – the tallest skyscraper in the northern hemisphere. But Tom’s workaholic lifestyle has disconnected him from his family, particularly his beautiful wife Lara (Jennifer Garner) and his adoring daughter Rebecca (Malina Weissman).

Rebecca’s 11th birthday is here, and she wants the gift she wants every year, a cat. Tom hates cats, but he is without a gift and time is running out. His GPS directs him to a mystical pet store brimming with odd and exotic cats- where the store’s eccentric owner- Felix Perkins (Christopher Walken), presents him with a majestic tomcat, named Mr. Fuzzypants.
