‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Doesn’t Have a Trailer, So Jack Black Described the Plot Himself

Who needs trailers when you have Jack Black?

What can’t Jack Black do? Fresh off his stint as Bowser in the critic-proof Super Mario Bros. Movie, which netted him a hit song, Black is doing things his own way once again. In lieu of a trailer for the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 4, Black decided to jump on stage at CinemaCon and tell the audience just what the movie was about.

Here’s what he described, per The Wrap, along with some dramatic music. The last time we saw Po, he said, was when the Panda was reuniting with his Dad in the Valley of Peace. In the new movie, he needs to become the new spiritual leader of the Valley, but he can’t do that until he finds a new Dragon Warrior.

That new Dragon Warrior could be a fox named Zhen, but he scoffs at the idea of being trained by Po. They eventually fall into a rhythm and learn to like eachother but before things can get peachy a bad guy named Chameleon shows up. Chameleon has the “totally scary and totally unfair” ability to revive old Kung Fu Panda bad guys like Tai Lung.

This means that Zhen and Po have to leave the Valley and venture out into the big city.

That’s about all we know. Well, there’s a trailer coming soon but it’s not finished yet. Black’s other animated movie about the two Italian brothers is right on the cusp of earning a billion dollars in global box office receipts. Maybe Kung Fu Panda 4 will do just as well when it releases in theaters on March 8 of next year.
