And after 22 movies in the space of a decade, Avengers: Endgame truly feels like the end of an era. So while Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige considers Spider-Man: Far From Home to be something of an epilogue to MCU Phase 3, Endgame looks set to bring the curtain down on a cinematic journey the likes of which we’ve never seen before. And are unlikely to see again anytime soon.

Case in point: this all-new Endgame promo, which essentially heralds the end of Hawkeye’s journey. Introduced as a brainwashed agent in 2012’s The Avengers, Clint Barton soon became a fan-favorite among MCU fans, who mourned his absence from Avengers: Infinity War.

But fear not; Hawkeye returns in Avengers: Endgame and sure enough, his transition into Ronin has sent the Internet into a tizzy.

He’ll be an integral part of the Avengers’ counter-attack we’ve been hearing so much about, and considering his family fell victim to the Decimation, Jeremy Renner’s sharpshooter is pissed. So much so that he begins the movie as a disillusioned killer replete with a katana sword.

Yes, directors Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – really committed to the Ronin transformation, though we’ll refrain from revealing too much, too soon, lest we wander into spoiler territory on the eve of the film’s big release.

Avengers: Endgame opens big tomorrow, April 26th. There is no end credits scene to speak of – nor is there a mid-credits scene – but there is a small tribute to each MCU character, along with a little audio cue at the very end of the movie.
