From slasher classic My Bloody Valentine (1981) to Ari Aster’s chilling Midsommar (2019), WGTC has created the most perfect list of deliciously evil horror movies to watch with that special someone. After all, horror and romance are definitely the ultimate mix.

Stephen King’s newest adaptation The Boogeyman has not even been released, and yet King is here to pen the perfect response to those trying to pick apart traditional horror elements in the latest project. One of those “complaints” is related to film buffs on Yahoo noting the importance of light and dark in King’s adaptation — which King insists is an absolute no-brainer. After all, the horror legend is synonymous with these sorts of imagery elements in his work, so anybody expecting anything different than the usual horror touch is going to be utterly disappointed.

Oftentimes, horror stans will take one solid look at slasher parodies and undoubtedly let out an audible sigh. However, there’s always one needle in the proverbial haystack that sticks out as a supreme project — and that would be 2011’s The Cabin in the Woods. Utilizing traditional horror tropes and clichés, the entire community has regarded the film as an unforgettable piece of cinema that has ignited a new wave of praise in a recent Reddit thread. Despite its fair share of critics and obvious flaws, there’s no denying that the 2011 flick remains a genre treasure that fans will firmly stand behind whenever a debate arises.
