After a gap of four full years, if you can believe it, Samuel L. Jackson is finally returning to the Marvel universe as Nick Fury in the incoming Disney Plus series Secret Invasion, and he’s wasting no time in admitting the one thing that he wishes would change about his beloved character. Although Jackson’s tongue-in-cheek comments are nothing compared to the shade his Avengers co-star Elizabeth Olsen has thrown on a major part of her own MCU journey. Let’s begin:
Samuel L. Jackson names the one thing he hates about his iconic Marvel character — and his fans will no doubt agree
You ever miss the days when Nick Fury would show up in practically every Marvel movie in some shape or form? If you do, you’re not alone in that as so does Sam Jackson. When asked what he hates about Fury while promoting Secret Invasion on Good Morning America, the MCU icon admitted that he hates that Nick “isn’t in everything,” proving that he would be willing to don his eyepatch a whole lot more in the Multiverse Saga if Marvel deigned to ask him. Outside of What If…?, Fury’s been MIA since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. Stop disrespecting your longest-lasting hero like this, Marvel!
Elizabeth Olsen is in no hurry to return as Wanda Maximoff or to acknowledge Doctor Strange 2‘s existence
Wanda Maximoff’s minions might be constantly awaiting news on some kind of solo project, but Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that she’s personally in no rush to return as Scarlet Witch, what with her finding job satisfaction in such projects as HBO’s Love & Death. What’s more, while she stressed that she loved WandaVision, Olsen curiously made no mention of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which may mean we have another “Chris Hemsworth turning against Thor: Love and Thunder“ situation on our hands. Olsen has already dropped some loaded remarks about the film’s treatment of her character, after all.
Thunderbolts director reveals his unexpected personal ties to the Spider-Man MCU trilogy
Why did Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier decide to sign up to helm a movie in the biggest, most lucrative film franchise in the world? Well, you might think that question answered itself but there is actually more to his reasoning than just renumeration. Schreier has dropped the bombshell that he actually used to be college roommates with Jon Watts, the man behind the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, so he’s been hovering around the Marvel sphere for some time. The filmmaker is due to make his own superhero debut once Thunderbolts starts shooting in Utah this summer.
More of the latest from the Marvel multiverse — like Across the Spider-Verse fans piling on Tom Holland because he *checks notes* puts on an accent? — are just around the corner.
