Latest Marvel News: ‘The Incredible Hulk’ releasing on Disney Plus doesn’t mean what you think it means and the ‘Secret Invasion’ director makes a strange revelation

The sun is(n't) getting real low, big guy.

The MCU fandom doesn’t hold back when it comes to cheering on new developments, but their latest excitement over the release of The Incredible Hulk on Disney Plus might be a bit misguided, for lack of a better word.

In other Marvel news, the Secret Invasion director has made a strangely damning remark about the production cycle, which, following the show’s mixed reviews, is certain to anger a few gatekeepers. Check out these beats in today’s Marvel roundup down below.

The Incredible Hulk is on Disney Plus now, but Bruce Banner still hasn’t been cleared for MCU duty

Marvel fans rejoiced after The Incredible Hulk finally made it into Disney Plus, but it’s with a sense of profound regret that we must inform you; Universal still retains the rights to the character, and the only sliver of the IP now belonging to Marvel is the 2008 movie. But maybe that’s for the better. We already know Captain America 4 is going to integrate some of the original characters into the plot, so, in a way, the legacy of the movie, and that of the character, lives on in the MCU, if ever so subtly.

The Secret Invasion director was told not to bother with the comics at all

The Secret Invasion director was specifically told by the powers that be to not bother with the source material. Apparently, the very concept of Secret Invasion was born out of the chemistry between Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn in Captain Marvel, so don’t go in expecting the show to remain faithful to the source material. In fact, if the reviews are anything to go by, perhaps that carefree attitude will end up being the show’s undoing. It also makes us wonder if Kevin Feige is getting too experimental with some of these projects, ultimately resulting in the last few lackluster MCU years we’ve had to bear through after Avengers: Endgame.

Sony is planning two major releases in the near future, but have no idea what they could be up to

Sony has now reserved two release dates for its upcoming Marvel flicks, one on November 8, 2024, and another on June 27, 2025. These movies could be the next Venom installment, another Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland as the lead, and even the rumored fourth entry with Tobey Maguire. Not much else is known at this point, except that both flicks are going up against powerful box office hitters like Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel and Disney’s live-action Moana. Then again, why would you worry about the competition when you’ve got the friendly neighborhood web-head to rope people in?
