Latest Marvel News: The MCU adding to a $1 billion loss for Disney ups box office pressures as new ‘The Marvels’ secrets send hype sky-high

Can 'The Marvels' rise to the challenge? Maybe it can...

Although we’ve got both Secret Invasion and Loki season 2 to entertain us in the interim, we won’t see another Marvel Studios movie in theaters until The Marvels this November. However, it had better be worth the wait for both fans and execs given that Disney is in seriously need of a major hit following a much disappointing past year for Mouse House productions. Curiously, some surprising leaked info may have just helped nudge the film in the right direction by amping up the anticipation.

The numbers have been crunched, and Disney has lost a total of $900 million from its theatrical releases from June 2022 to June 2023. Alongside infamous Pixar disappointments like Lightyear and Elemental, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have contributed to this, so all eyes are on The Marvels to make things right. 2019’s Captain Marvel did earn itself over $1 billion, but it remains to be seen if lightning can strike twice for Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers this fall. As luck would have it, though, the hype train is starting nice and early:

… And luckily some leaked post-credits secrets are ramping up the hype so high it might just manage it

While this is maybe not how Marvel Studios would wish it to be done, some leaked info we shouldn’t know about for another five months is helping get fans even more excited for The Marvels than they were already. An alleged description of the film’s post-credits scene, which as you would expect has big consequences for the MCU if true, is making the rounds online – something which has no doubt helped the Nia DaCosta-directed sequel to be declared the most eagerly awaited superhero movie still to come in 2023, beating two DC efforts and a Sony.

The key to Marvel’s future is uncovered in… Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

Indy fans have long written off 2008’s much-maligned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but those tempted to scratch it off their marathon ahead of The Dial of Destiny might want to persevere with it — as a contemporary rewatch reveals the Steven Spielberg production is unexpectedly prophetic when it comes to the MCU future of Harrison Ford, who is joining the franchise in next year’s Captain America: Brave New World. So, yes, try and ignore the fridge that somehow survives a nuke and whatever the heck’s going on with those aliens, and Marvel lovers might find Indy 4 is worth watching after all.

More Marvel updates, like a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 theory that tries to take away Rocket’s achievements, arrive all the time so don’t go anywhere.
