Leaked Avengers: Infinity War Screenshots Give Us New Look At Cap’s Beard

Can we consider, for a moment, the concept of patience? Perhaps lend some thought to the idea that the only thing to be gained from leaked trailers and images of highly anticipated movies is more frustration? These are the questions that spring to mind as we wrestle with the fact that some new screenshots from the Avengers: Infinity War trailer have leaked online today (no doubt pulled from that footage we saw earlier) and they give us our best look yet at Captain America's new beard.

Now, here’s the thing. Cap dispensing with shaving is not a revelation, in and of itself. We’ve known about his hirsute appearance for several months, thanks to both footage seen by fans attending San Diego Comic-Con, and also concept art already released into the public forum. It certainly is an interesting choice for the character though, and leads to understandable speculation about the emotional state he’ll be in when Avengers: Infinity War begins.

When last we left him, he was dealing with the heavy, life-changing ramifications of the events of Captain America: Civil War, so it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that Infinity War will involve Steve Rogers being in a much darker place, in psychological terms. And as we all know, giving facial hair to a hitherto clean-shaven hero is a traditional, cinematic method of visually communicating such character development.

Anyways, take a look at the new screenshots in the gallery below and see what you think. Admittedly, they’re pretty much identical to the one that leaked last week, but they’re a bit higher quality with better lighting, too, giving us our best look at Cap yet.

Unfortunately, there are no other details in the images here from which we might derive information about the scene it’s depicting. Still, this is an exciting glimpse at how the fan favorite hero will appear in the upcoming blockbuster and given that Marvel has been so stingy in terms of what they’re letting us see from the film, people will no doubt take what they can get at this stage.

Packed to the rafters with scene-stealing chemistry and “intense surprises,” Avengers: Infinity War is quickly approaching, while the fourth, so-far untitled Avengers film will follow it in May of 2019, by which point viewers will be acquainted with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and her ’90s-set origin story. March 8th, 2019 is the date for your diaries for that one.
