We aren’t far now from seeing the one of the most hotly anticipated movies of recent years, The Dark Knight Rises. On July 20th, Christopher Nolan‘s epic conclusion to his much acclaimed Batman trilogy will be seen by audiences worldwide, after 4 long years of waiting.
Now that we’re in this final sprint, more and more promotion is spilling out. After the gazillionth TV spot, Warner Brothers have now released samples of Hans Zimmer‘s score, which you can listen to below, as well as a track listing for the Original Soundtrack. Luckily, the track listings don’t give anything away plot wise, which is good for those of us who are looking forward to knowing pretty much next to nothing when we see the film.
The only title that may be a little giveaway for some is track number #14, called ‘Why Do We Fall’ which is of course a reference back to the scene in Batman Begins when a young Bruce Wayne falls down the well. Bruce’s father then asks him, “Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again.”
From what we have here, the score sounds pretty much amazing. It’s classic Zimmer, big and epic as well as a little more experimentation with weird, electronic sounds. We don’t get much of the chanting that we’ve heard from the trailers and other marketing but I imagine that will be buried deeper in the score. Zimmer’s collaboration with Nolan has produced some amazing and iconic soundtrack work and The Dark Knight Rises looks no different..
The Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20th. Listen to the samples and see the track list below.
