Former Saturday Night Live star Jenny Slate has been tapped to pen a reboot of Warner Brothers’ Looney Tunes franchise.

The film, based off of the popular and beloved stable of characters from the Warner Bros. shorts such as Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, will be a hybrid live-action/CG film.

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are set to produce alongside Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and Heyday Films president Jeffrey Clifford.

If you can remember to way back in 2010, Warner Bros. seemed interested in testing the water with a Wyle E. Coyote/Roadrunner CG short that ran in front of the Cats and Dogs sequel and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. I’m sure the reception of that short, as well as the success of last year’s The Muppets, helped Warner Bros. make an already no-brainer decision to move forward with a new feature.

The only question now is, which actors can we hope to see interacting with the likes of Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer? We’ll keep you updated as casting and other details come down.
