Love The Coopers Trailer Channels The Griswolds For New Festive Comedy

For the most wonderful time of the year, the Christmas period is often ripe for the picking when it comes to screwball comedies. Whether it's age-old classics in the vein of Home Alone or the much more forgettable Deck the Halls. Though one ensemble piece that still stands the test of time is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and its legacy lives on in the first trailer for Love The Coopers.

In the works at CBS Films and Lionsgate, the film brings together a star-studded cast for what seems to be a fairly run of the mill Christmas comedy. From misbehaving children to festive plans going up in smokes, Love The Coopers ticks all the generic boxes, but one thing separating it from the pack – and perhaps acting as its saving grace – is the ensemble cast.

From Diane Keaton and John Goodman’s hapless grandparents to Olivia Wilde, Ed Helms, Amanda Seyfried, Marisa Tomei, Alan Arkin, Jake Lacy, Anthony Mackie, and even Steve Martin as the narrator, the studio has drafted in a whole host of stars for the festive romp. Channeling the spirit of the Griswold family in all but name, the movie is really more in line with New Year’s Eve and Love Actually given its stacked cast, though we’ll be holding out hope that it’s more in line with the latter than the former come November.

CBS Films and Lionsgate will bring Love The Coopers to theaters for better or worse on November 13.

LOVE THE COOPERS follows the Cooper clan as four generations of extended family come together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration. As the evening unfolds, a series of unexpected visitors and unlikely events turn to night upside down, leading them all toward a surprising rediscovery of family bonds and the spirit of the holiday.
