Margot Robbie Says She’ll Suit Up As Harley Quinn Next Year

Whether you liked the Suicide Squad movie or not, the fact of the matter is that it raked in a lot of dough at the box office and was a merchandising monster - and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn played a huge part in that. Really, her tremendous embodiment of the character just happened to coincide with the Clown Princess of Crime's popularity being on an upswing, thus we saw her become the most cosplayed character of 2016.

Naturally, Warner Bros. are likely keen on having Robbie reprise her role as soon as possible. And most fortunate for those of us who enjoyed her portrayal, Variety reports that’ll happen as soon as next year. Furthermore, the actress went on to say that she’s having such a blast because Harley is so different from her:

“It’s so weird when people want to know about you because you’re like, wait, my whole job is not being me. Me? I don’t know, I’m boring. But, like, these characters are amazing, ask about them. Harley’s one of those insane characters and people do seem to really like her, so I hope I get to keep playing her.”

Which exact film will mark next appearance has yet to be confirmed, but her name has been attached to several DC related projects that WB has been kicking around lately. Truth be told, Suicide Squad 2 seems to be our best bet because there have already been reports stating that cameras will begin rolling on Task Force X’s next mission next year, and because it just seems like the logical progression in Harley’s onscreen story.

In addition to those, a spinoff focusing squarely on Harley Quinn and the Joker is said to be in the works as well, which we could see as panning out. But as much as this writer wants to see Gotham City Sirens come to fruition, complete radio silence makes me think that flick will never be. Regardless, fingers remain crossed that Robbie finds the time to lend her voice to the upcoming animated series.
