Maria Hill And Nick Fury Confirmed For Spider-Man: Far From Home

Vulture is reporting today that, much to the surprise of no one, both Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will be appearing in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill are officially back from the dead. Not that we were particularly worried, or anything…

Despite succumbing to the effects of Marvel’s snapture at the tail-end of Avengers: Infinity War (“motherfu–”), Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders have been confirmed to be joining the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Filming on the 2019 sequel is already underway across parts of the United Kingdom, and earlier today, Vulture broke the news.

Not that it came as much of a surprise, mind you, as there’ve been countless rumors doing the rounds over the last month or so, all pointing to the two fan favorites returning for more Marvel action, as they get set to accompany Peter Parker on his trip to Europe. Details on their roles and how they’ll factor into things remain scarce, but with so much already going on in Far From Home, we can’t imagine they’ll be too involved.

Who knows, maybe Maria, Nick and Peter can all get together for a coffee one afternoon and reminisce about the experience of being turned into tiny particles by the Mad Titan? We kid, of course, but regardless of how they ultimately work themselves into the plot, it’s nice to know we’ll be seeing more of Hill and Fury.

Again, we weren’t exactly worried when they fell victim to Thanos’ snap, but neither character has had much to do in the MCU in recent years so it’s nice to see the studio getting them a bit more involved as Phase 3 begins to wind down. Before Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5th, 2019, though, we’ll first see how the rest of the team get out of their grim current states in Avengers 4, which will arrive on May 3rd of the same year.
