Deadline is reporting that Martin Scorsese will direct the long awaited adaptation of The Wolf Of Wall Street as his next film. Furthermore, as we expected, it will star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Last we heard, Scorsese said that he wanted to make Silence, a passion project of many years, for his next film. He also mentioned that he was hoping for Daniel Day-Lewis to come on board. So, what likely happened is that Scorsese decided to delay Silence so he could wait for Day-Lewis, who is currently working on Lincoln.

The Wolf Of Wall Street is written by Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos writer Terence Winter. It tells the true story of Jordan Belfort, “a drug/sex/alcohol addicted New York stockbroker who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, the corporate banking world and mob infiltration.”

Besides DiCaprio, don’t be surprised if Robert De Niro shows up as well. Scorsese stated last year that he wished to do a film with both DiCaprio and De Niro within the next year and I have a good feeling that this may be that film.

Also, don’t be shocked if you see Michael Fassbender pop up here. In an interview with THR in January, we found out that Fassbender had been talking to Scorsese about doing a film together. Could this be the film they were discussing? We sure hope so!

The Wolf Of Wall Street will go into production this August for a 2013 release. We’ll keep you posted on more updates as we get them.
