Marvel Comics Fuel Speculation Of Black Knight Appearing In Avengers: Endgame

After years of staying tight-lipped on the content of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel isn’t about to give the whole game away at the last minute. Still, with several classic Avengers comics being reprinted under the “True Believers” line this April, it seems plausible enough that some of this material may have served as inspiration for the developments to come in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, especially when one of these comics is outright called “Endgame.”

After years of staying tight-lipped on the content of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel isn’t about to give the whole game away at the last minute. There’ve been rumors for a while now that the upcoming flick will somehow bring the Black Knight into the mix, and the fact that the hero shows up in all three reprints will surely add fuel to the speculation. What’s more, “Endgame” in particular is noteworthy as the comic in which the armored hero joins the Avengers. For a little context, the comic was part of a storyline that saw Kang the Conqueror and The Grandmaster facing off in a cosmic game that even involved time travel, culminating in a moment where the Black Knight helps to undo the deaths of the Avengers by defeating Kang.

Seeing how it’s already a very popular prediction that Endgame will see the genocide of half the universe’s population be undone through time travel, this upcoming reprint may well hold a few clues on the developments to come, though we also wouldn’t put it past Marvel to throw us a few red herrings.

As for the Black Knight, while Avengers: Endgame already looks to be heavily packed with heroes, and you can expect much of the emphasis to be on Phase 1 characters like Iron Man and Captain America, the feature is also expected to lay the groundwork for the events of Marvel’s Phase 4. With that in mind, perhaps the movie will still bring a new hero or two into the fray, or at least sow the seeds for their arrival. Either way, all will become clear when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
