It feels like every day this past week has brought a fresh wave of predictions that the first Avengers 4 trailer is just hours away from dropping, but as much as Marvel Studios likes to play their cards close to their chest, there’s a good chance that the long-awaited teaser reveal won’t be coming to us out of the blue.
Though this past month has seen a continuous stream of theories on the most likely date that the preview will come our way, it’s currently looking like the first set of footage from the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is no more than a week away from release, with one prominent rumor being that the trailer is arriving this Monday. We’ll believe it when we see it, but if the hearsay actually has it right this time, then we could be getting some confirmation as soon as tomorrow.
That’s the thinking of news outlet TrailerTrack, who tweeted the following when a fan wondered if Disney might drop the teaser with no prior warning:
“They can, but if it’s a broadcast debut (eg during Monday Night Football) usually it’s announced so it can bring in a potential ratings boost.”
The outlet went on to acknowledge that there are indeed exceptions from Disney’s own recent history, but argued that the Avengers 4 trailer isn’t looking like such a case:
“Granted, Lion King didn’t have an announcement but of course, that was on Fox. And when they had the Aladdin teaser announced in advance for Thursday Night Football…kinda backfired with how teasery that was.”
From the sound of things, we may well know if the latest teaser reports are legit before the weekend is up.
While November proved disappointing for any fan who let all the trailer talk get their hopes up, various online leakers have recently been raising the stakes with claims that this coming week will not only be bringing us the Avengers 4 footage that the internet so desires, but also something else that’s big and Marvel-related. Time will prove these rumors right or wrong, but one date that we don’t need to speculate on is the release of the film itself, as that’s on May 3rd, 2019.
