Although Michael B. Jordan’s name being attached to Superman is certainly nothing new, we’re here to discuss a different DC Comics character today. As it turns out, we’re being told that he’s being eyed to play none other than Black Lightning.

As you may have heard, word got out last month that Warner Bros. have been contemplating bringing Jefferson Pierce into the DC Extended Universe, and now we’ve been provided more details. Based on what our source is telling us, the intention is indeed to make a film headlined by Black Lightning himself in which he’ll lead the Outsiders.

If you’re curious as to what the team lineup will be, the only names lent to us at this point are those of Halo, Geo-Force and Katana. Suffice it to say, Suicide Squad‘s Karen Fukuhara is expected to reprise her role as the master swordswoman. And if I’m to get somewhat analytical here, the big screen version of Black Lightning is already sounding more comparable to the one familiar to Young Justice: Outsiders, rather than The CW series.

Now, something we need to make perfectly clear is that Jordan is merely on an internal wishlist. That said, he may not even get the role, nor may he be aware that he’s been mentioned. Considering how he captivated audiences in both Black Panther and Creed though, we can certainly understand why he’s being looked at.

Let it also be known that this information was fed to us by the same person who told us that Viola Davis was returning for The Suicide Squad, Black Adam will be the villain in Shazam 3, and Black Mask will be gay in Birds of Prey, each of which have been confirmed since first reported by us. As such, we have no reason to doubt it.

While we wait to learn more, be sure to check out The CW’s Black Lightning when it returns for its third season on Monday, October 7th. It won’t be connected to the gestating movie, but it’s a pretty great show, regardless.
