Zachary Levi Teases Big Showdown With Black Adam In Shazam! 3

Dwayne Johnson has been attached to the role of Black Adam for the longest time, but it seems that his solo project as the anti-hero is finally about to go somewhere. Last month, Jungle Cruise's Jaume Collet-Serra signed up to direct the movie and The Rock has started talking about his role publicly. However, don't expect a crossover with the Shazam! films just yet, as star Zachary Levi is teasing that this super-powered showdown is something we'll have to wait for.

While attending Germany’s CCXP Cologne convention, Levi warned fans not to expect Johnson’s character to appear in Shazam! 2. He explains that the idea is to introduce Black Adam into the DCEU in his own film first and then bring him together with Billy Batson in Shazam! 3.

“I can say that as far as I know, Black Adam is not going to be in the second Shazam!, because the idea is that they want to go and do a standalone Black Adam movie first. And then it would kind of be, if we do a third Shazam! and a second Black Adam, kind of [parallel] like that, that’s where we would [meet].”

We Got This Covered previously brought you a breakdown of how the Shazam! franchise would develop which matches exactly what Levi is saying here. In particular, that DC wants to build up to the big Shazam/Adam face-off to make Shazam! 3 a big event. As for the second movie, Mr. Mind and his Monster Society of Evil will serve as the main villains. Much as fans could already guess from the first film’s post-credits scene.

As for the Black Adam movie, producer Hiram Garcia promised that “fans are going to be really happy” when it eventually sees the light of day. No word yet on when exactly we can expect it, but it sounds like Shazam! 2 is first up.
