Though we all thought Michael Shannon’s time in the DCEU was done after Man of Steel, the actor made a brief cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Well, sort of. As it turns out, he wasn’t actually on set at any point during the film’s production. Shannon revealed as much in a recent interview with Metro UK, where he said the following:

“To be honest, I never went to the set of that movie ever,” he said. “I did some ADR, I recorded some lines that Zack [Snyder, director] wasn’t even sure he was going to use — like, creepy s— I’d be saying to Lex Luthor in the spirit world or wherever. I don’t even know if it’s in the movie or not. I do seem to recall a giant, rubber, naked version of my body.”

While fans might already know this fun little bit of trivia, there are probably a lot of people who didn’t realize that the corpse of General Zod which we see in Dawn of Justice was actually made from wax. As such, Shannon didn’t even need to step foot on set for his character to make a cameo in the film.

That’s probably a good thing, too, as the actor revealed last week that he actually fell asleep while watching Batman V Superman for the first time. Unfortunately, that’s not the first instance we’ve heard of that happening either. Snyder’s superhero showdown may be becoming something of a cult classic as fans start to reflect on it more, but it certainly wasn’t the electrifying or thrilling blockbuster that the early buzz promised it would be.

Tell us, are you surprised to learn that Michael Shannon never even stepped foot on the set of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? Sound off below with your thoughts!
