Three Machete Kills casting announcements this week, not bad eh? The first week of May brought with it news that Amber Heard, Michelle Rodriguez and Demian Bichir will be joining the upcoming sequel.

Just when you thought that Robert Rodriguez had his cast all set for the sequel to 2010’s Machete, Variety has reported on yet another cast member who will be joining. Everyone’s favourite Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara is set to join the film.

The actress will play “Madame Desdemona, dressed in all leather, who will provide information to Machete, who works for the U.S. government in the attempt to stop an evil arms dealer (Mel Gibson) from deploying missiles.”

Clearly, pre-production is heating up and things are getting ready to go. Casting for Machete Kills is pretty exciting so far and I’ve been surprised with almost each of Rodriguez’s choices. I can’t wait to see who else he brings on board.

Production begins later this month in Texas so hopefully we will have a couple more casting announcements soon.

Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Sofia Vergara and Antonio Banderas and is eyeing a 2013 release.
