Robert Rodriguez announced in March that he would begin filming the sequel to Machete, Machete Kills, at the end of May. Since then, we have been waiting to see what type of cast he’d put together for his next venture.
Machete lured the likes of Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan and Cheech Marin. Expectations for the sequel where high and so far, they are being met.
Mel Gibson recently joined the film as the antagonist Luther Voz, while Antonio Banderas has confirmed that he will have a cameo. Now, we have two more names to add to the list.
On top of the returning Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez and the now confirmed Jessica Alba, The Rum Diary star Amber Heard and A Better Life Oscar nominee Demian Bichir have joined the cast.
Heard will be playing “a manipulative assassin who goes by the name of Miss San Antonio.” As for Bichir, his role is undisclosed. No word if Heard’s role was the role that Rodriguez had wanted for Michelle Williams, though her casting would make sense if Williams turned the part down.
Machete Kills begins production later this month in Texas and will star Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir and Antonio Banderas.
