New Mutants Director Updates On The Progress Of The X-Men Spinoff

Since Fox announced that Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) would direct and co-write their New Mutants movie, it's pretty much been radio silence regarding any further details on the project. Because of this, curious fans have begun to quiz the director about it on social media, and although he says he can't divulge any information about the plot or characters etc., he does reveal that the script he's currently working on with Knate Gwaltney is going well - and then just to prove it, he posted the above image to his Instagram account.

Since Fox announced that Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) would direct and co-write their New Mutants movie, it’s pretty much been radio silence regarding any further details on the project. Because of this, curious fans have begun to quiz the director about it on social media, and although he says he can’t divulge any information about the plot or characters, he does reveal that the script he’s currently working on with Knate Gwaltney is going well – and then just to prove it, he posted the above image to his Instagram account.

Obviously, we can’t glean anything from this as not even a single word is decipherable, but at least we have confirmation that the screenplay seems to be coming along nicely.

The biggest question on fan’s minds is what roster of mutants Boone and co. will utilize for the movie. There have been several incarnations of the team over the years, but mainstays have always been the likes of Cannonball, Magik, Mirage, Wolfsbane and Sunspot. The latter actually appeared in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, so there’s a good chance that Adan Canto will reprise the role for the New Mutants film, too.

Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing the movie, which is expected to aim towards a July 2018 release date. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
