New Cards Reveal Best Look Yet At Detective Pikachu’s Pokémon

Some new Pokémon cards have surfaced this week and they give us a great look at a few of the creatures who we'll soon see in Detective Pikachu.

So far, the marketing for Detective Pikachu has done a pretty good job of winning over skeptics, or at the very least, convincing people that the film won’t be quite as misguided as some feared it might be. That continues today, too, with a preview for a new trading card set which will be available starting April 5th.

Seen in the gallery down below, we’ve got a look at three cards from the set and what’s interesting is that they don’t show the creatures as drawings, like we usually see them. Instead, they use their likeness from Detective Pikachu, which means that we’ve now got our best look yet at how Jigglypuff, Mr. Mime and Psyduck will appear in the film.

Of course, all three of these Pokémon have been glimpsed in the trailers already, but we get to see them in a lot more detail here and you can check them out for yourself in the gallery down below.

From what we understand, this Detective Pikachu set will contain 26 cards in total and already, we’ve seen previews for the Greninja, and Charizard cards, along with a few others. And over the coming weeks, we’ll no doubt get to lay eyes on at lest a few more as the hype machine for the film continues to roll on.

Whether all this marketing will end up paying off or not remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the studio is fairly confident in what they have, as we already know that a spinoff’s in the works, with rumors pointing to a whole new cinematic universe being spawned from Detective Pikachu as well. It all sounds pretty ambitious, but we’ll know soon enough if the franchise can flourish on the big screen as the movie hits theaters on May 10th.
