IGN has pulled back the blood-red curtain on an all-new poster for 20th Century Fox’s forthcoming video game adaptation, Hitman: Agent 47.

Starring Homeland alum Rupert Friend as the titular, reticent and all-round lethal assassin, the film is based on Eidos’ long-running series. With Aleksander Bach behind the lens, it’s understood that this latest cinematic interpretation won’t consider the middling 2009 movie as canon, instead writing a new chapter in Agent 47’s bloody history.

This modern retelling also has space for Star Trek Into Darkness and American Horror Story‘s Zachary Quinto, who is on board to play one of the movie’s overarching villains – a cog in part of a mega-corporation hellbent on monetizing Agent 47’s precious DNA. Oldboy‘s Hannah Ware is also part of the cast, and going off of the trailers released to date, it seems that the actress will be a potential ally and/or love interest to our protagonist.

Rupert Friend’s mission will commence on August 28 when Hitman: Agent 47 infiltrates theaters nationwide. And to sate your appetite for the reboot, you can feast your eyes on the foreboding one-sheet down below.

Hitman-Agent-47-1

Based on the top-selling, award-winning videogame franchise, Hitman: Agent 47 is an all-new motion picture about an elite and genetically engineered assassin, known only by the last two digits 47 of a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. His latest target is a young woman on the run from powerful and clandestine forces. The mission brings startling revelations about the lethal agent and his prey, hurtling them on a collision course with their pasts. And this time, his number may be up.
