New Justice League Featurette Unveils Steppenwolf’s War-Torn History

A new featurette has been released today by Flashback FilmMaking dissecting Justice League baddie Steppenwolf.

The villain attempted to destroy Earth using Mother Boxes in the 2017 blockbuster but was ultimately defeated by the supergroup. A General of Darkseid’s army, whose symbol scarred the landscape in the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Knightmare Flash sequence, Steppenwolf was voiced and motion captured by Ciarán Hinds.

The video – seen above – contains a bounty of knowledge about the warrior from Apokolips, including insight from President and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics Geoff Johns. The featurette also explores The Conquerer’s nephew Darkseid, his home world, and the influence of Jack Kirby’s the New Gods.

Though interesting, it’ll do little to temper the intransigence of fans still hounding Warner Bros. and DC for a director’s cut of Justice League. If anything, it’ll only enrage them further. A lot of the information regarding Steppenwolf’s backstory in the video would’ve better served the film had it actually been included and not cut for time, something director Zack Snyder had in his original plans, no doubt.

Speaking of which, Snyder has been busy on social media lately, dropping some dangerous knowledge on fans concerning both Batman V Superman and Justice League. None more fascinating, however, than yesterday’s cryptic quote about the previously mentioned Knightmare Flash sequence from Dawn of Justice, which is most definitely referring to an alternate future where Lois Lane has died, causing Superman to go rogue.

We’ll likely never see Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League, but the director did subtly hint a couple of days ago that he may, one day unveil his masterplan for the DCEU. It may not be as good as the real thing, but at this point, we’ll take what we can get.
