New Poster For The Meg Shows Off The Main Cast

As The Meg's larger-than-life promotional campaign begins to enter the homestretch, Warner Bros. has today unleashed another international poster for what may well be 2018's ultimate popcorn movie.

As The Meg‘s larger-than-life promotional campaign begins to enter the homestretch now, Warner Bros. has today unveiled yet another international one-sheet for what may well be the year’s ultimate popcorn movie.

It’s certainly a far cry from the sun-soaked poster we saw last week, as this one is set underwater and unlike most of the others, actually shows off the entire main cast. Still, it’s another welcome look at what’s shaping up to be one of 2018’s most exciting films. Even if some of the Photoshop work on display here is a bit questionable.

That aside, it’s another great poster to add to The Meg‘s growing collection, and as this is a joint venture with the Beijing-based Gravity Pictures, studio execs will no doubt be crossing their fingers in the hope that Jon Turteltaub’s deep-sea thriller makes a big splash in the Middle Kingdom come next month.

Story-wise, we know that The Meg is a loose adaptation of Steve Alten’s bestseller, and follows Jason Statham on his mission to stop the unstoppable. Along with a Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao) and his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), Statham’s Jonas Taylor dives deep beneath the waves in order to confront the titular prehistoric monster.

Whether that suicide mission yields any tangible results is another question entirely, but with talk that the pic could spawn a potential franchise over at Warner Bros., we wouldn’t be all that surprised to see Jon Turteltaub’s thriller leave things on a cliffhanger when it opens next month.

The Meg swims into select theaters on August 10th, and we’ll never look at deep water the same way again…
