Lionsgate has just released a brand new trailer for their upcoming Power Rangers reboot and this time, they’ve significantly lightened the mood. Whereas the last preview brought with it a dark and gritty tone, this footage shows off a lot of the humor and lightheartedness that you’ll find in the film.

Set to Kanye West’s “Power,” the trailer also brings us a much better look at characters like Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader’s Alpha 5 and Bryan Cranston’s Zordon. It’s not all laughs and fun, though. Things get serious pretty quickly as we’re treated to a ton of great action shots here, not to mention that Banks’ villain looks particularly nasty, making for a formidable threat for our young heroes. Overall, this preview shines a much different light on the reboot than the first bit of footage did and honestly, we’re really digging what we see.

It appears as if the studio has put a lot of money into this one, too, as the trailer shows off some slick CGI and a number of large scale action set pieces which just scream blockbuster. Now that we’ve already seen a bit of the origin story, or at least hints of it, this preview can really dive into the meat and potatoes of the film and it provides a much better look at what’s to come. Fans may not have been fully on board with what’s been shown up till now, but this new footage should definitely do the trick.

Dacre Montgomery will headline Lionsgate’s team as Jason (Red Ranger), a normal teenager who finds himself with extraordinary abilities. He isn’t the only citizen of Angel Grove to undergo such a transformation, either. Joining him are Naomi Scott’s Kimberly (Pink Ranger), RJ Cyler’s Scott Billy (Blue Ranger), Becky G’s Trini (Yellow Ranger) and Ludi Lin’s Zack (Black Ranger).

Power Rangers is booked in for March 24, 2017, and could well spawn a newfound movie franchise at Lionsgate – you know, providing the box office numbers are in the studio’s favor.
