New Trailer For xXx: Return Of Xander Cage Arrives

If male wish fulfilment is your thing, then xXx: Return Of Xander Cage clearly has everything you need. Men doing the action hero/bad-guy thing, women being trophies to be won while making the men look good, and a few token ‘bad-a** women’ to earn some points with the ladies. Indeed, this new trailer for the third instalment in the xXx franchise delivers exactly what is expected.

Directed by D.J. Caruso – who’s new to the franchise – and written by F. Scott Frazier, xXx: Return Of Xander Cage sees extreme-sports-enthusiast-turned-secret-agent Xander Cage heading up a new team to save the world from a plot to take over military resources for nefarious purposes.

“After coming out of self-imposed exile, daredevil operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) must race against time to recover a sinister weapon known as Pandora’s Box, a device that controls every military satellite in the world. Recruiting a new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself entangled in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of government.”

These films hinge on stunt spectacle, thrilling set-pieces and the charisma of the leading man, and as such, this second sequel is very much a known quantity – almost guaranteed to entertain fans, and turn a profit while doing so.

The next chapter in the explosive franchise is also promising to deliver some of the “most mind-blowing stunts ever to be caught on film.” A bold claim, to be sure, but given the footage we’ve seen so far, we have no reason to doubt it. We’re not expecting xXX: The Return of Xander Cage to arrive packing much depth or character development, but when it comes to larger than life action and jaw-dropping stunts, we have complete faith that it’ll deliver.

xXx: Return Of Xander Cage arrives in cinemas on January 19th, 2017.
