If the mainline X-Men franchise was placed under the spotlight following last year’s middling Apocalypse, it seems that 20th Century Fox is now finally beginning to get its mutant ducks in a row.

Sophie Turner, who made her series debut as the young Jean Grey back in 2016, is all but set to return for the next X-Men film. Rumored to be titled Supernova, the Game of Thrones star revealed to Hey U Guys that Fox has already mapped out plans to start shooting later in 2017. Turner stopped short of disclosing exactly when production will begin, but considering that the so-hot-right-now actress was one of the primary stars said to be in negotiations with Fox about her X-Men future – along with Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy – news that Turner will reprise as Jean Grey is music to our ears.

Per Hey U Guys:

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”

Assuming the Dark Phoenix saga is earmarked for adaptation, Fox will no doubt be working to ensure Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy all join Sophie Turner to reprise their respective roles. Together, the foursome has been labeled instrumental for the future of the X-Men series, and it’ll be fascinating to see how each character is incorporated into Chris Claremont’s beloved comic book arc.

Last we reported, sources claimed that filming on the next X-Men movie will kick off in June, but we’ll keep you posted. Game of Thrones season 7, meanwhile, is due to premiere sometime this summer following a delay early on in production. It’ll herald the penultimate run of the HBO juggernaut, before an eighth and final season airs in 2018.
