With pre-production well underway on the new Robert Redford film The Company You Keep, another cast members had now joined. So far, Redford will play a former militant wanted by the FBI who must go on the run when his true identity is exposed by an ambitious young reporter, to be played by Shia LaBeouf. And today Nick Nolte is said to be in negotiations for the film, with no word yet on who he will play.
Nolte is a marvellous actor and he will next be seen in Warrior, a MMA fighting film where he plays father/trainer to the two lead characters by Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. Also in the fall he will take a prominent role in the HBO series Luck developed by Michael Mann and David Milch.
As for The Company You Keep, it sounds like a really interesting project and Nolte and Redford should be great to watch on screen together.
The only thing that leaves me agnostic is Shia LaBeouf, who is a fairly dull screen presence and will have to work hard against those two actors to make himself noticeable as a lead in the film. However with films like The Wettest County in the World coming up, we could see a turning point in his career.
The Company You Keep goes in front of cameras next month.
