Bichir will be joining an already pretty impressive line-up, which includes Kyle Chandler (First Man), Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Danai Gurira (Black Panther), and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta). While none of these performers have yet made their debut in the MonsterVerse, many of them will first be featuring in next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Speaking of which, though this beast-based franchise is still only two films young – those two being 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island – the first trailer for the Big G’s next outing worked wonders in getting people pumped when it dropped a few months ago. And while one leaked response to the movie suggested a mixed bag, we can still hold out hope that the atomic-breathed lizard’s imminent encounters with Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will amount to one mighty spectacle when King of the Monsters comes out on May 31st, 2019.

In the meantime, an image that surfaced last month seemed to indicate that shooting is soon to begin in Hawaii for Godzilla vs. Kong. Since then, we haven’t heard much on the matter, but surely Legendary Entertainment can only keep us in the dark for so long. In any case, there’ll be plenty of time to learn more about the movie, seeing how it isn’t scheduled for release until May 22nd, 2020. And for what it’s worth, Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has already offered his assurances that that the ape is in great hands with helmsman Adam Wingard.
