Earlier today, the production house shared an official synopsis for next month’s release, and it’s every bit as vague and spoiler-free as you’d expect:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

As with every other piece of officially released Endgame material, the new description keeps plot details to a minimum. And while a synopsis that tells you as little as possible just might be a little self-contradictory, most fans seem pretty happy to go into the movie cold.

Like the film’s two trailers and one TV spot, the new synopsis has a pretty ominous tone to it. In particular, the text’s reference to “one final stand” serves as another reminder that we’ll almost certainly be seeing some heroic deaths in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel. Like Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said earlier this month “nobody’s unkillable” in the MCU, though some fatalities seem more probable than others, and the ones who are looking the most vulnerable right now are the original, Phase 1 stars.

For the past year, fans have been agonizing over the question of which heroes are most likely to meet a sad end in Marvel’s Phase 3 finale, with Captain America and Iron Man being the two most popular guesses. But regardless of who’s scheduled to kick the bucket in their next movie, audiences will surely be in for an emotional experience when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
