Though we’ve known what to expect when it comes to the appearance of Atlanteans – specifically Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry and Amber Heard’s Mera – thanks to Justice League, much of the cast from the upcoming Aquaman solo film remain shrouded in mystery. But as the impending theatrical date and San Diego Comic-Con draw nearer, we can anticipate seeing and hearing a lot more regarding this particular superhero flick.

In fact, there are those who’ve had the privilege of seeing the first trailer well in advance of any Hall H festivities, praising the film for its humor, action and visual effects. But when it comes to the rest of us, we can count ourselves lucky that Entertainment Weekly is finally reading to unleash some teasers upon the masses.

In this case, we’re taking a look at the publication’s next issue, which is set to hit stands on Friday. What’s so special about the cover we’re here to discuss is that not only does it offer a new look at both Arthur and Mera, but it also unveils Nicole Kidman’s Queen Atlanna, who just so happens to be the mother of the former.

As you can see, she’s looking quite regal in her tiara and form-fitting costume, both of which seem to be in keeping with Atlantean fashions previously established in comic books and the DC Extended Universe itself.

Naturally, I’m expecting for director James Wan to surprise us by crafting an original tale, but he’s no doubt looked to the source material for much inspiration. That said, let us hope a better fate awaits Atlanna than, say, what was witnessed in the animated film Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.

Aquaman opens in theaters on December 21st.
